A powerful dance style that combines organic movement, balance, and strength. This 8-week beginner level course encourages students to be playful with their own bodies and gravity to discover new physical boundaries. Taking spatial and body awareness on its focus, dancers will learn techniques of efficient body weight and muscle usage, safe body alignment, coordination, and flexibility.
Each class will start with an active warm-up/stretching routine and continue with the exercises of floorwork/center and dance technique. Every class will end with a dance combination and each week’s combination will focus on a different theme. These themes will include musicality, balance play, tension vs. relaxation, body isolation, playing with speed and levels, etc.
This course further invites dancers to be versatile in their expressions and encourages them to portray a wide range of emotions and personal growth within performance techniques. Elements of improvisation will also be introduced which will enable dancers to experience freedom within flexible boundaries.
