Online ticket sale at www.griffioen.vu.nl

Tickets for all theater performances and movies can be purchased on the website. It is possible to pay with Visacard, Mastercard, Maestro card, The National Movie Voucher (‘bioscoopbon’) and the gift card for theater performances (‘podiumcadeaukaart’). Transaction costs are € 2,- for 1 or 2 tickets, € 3,- for 3 tickets, € 4,- for 4 tickets and € 5,- for 5 or more tickets. These costs are charged to finance the ordering process. No costs are charged at our checkout on Uilenstede.
After finishing the payment, you will be sent an e-mail with the tickets attached. These tickets can be printed or be shown on your mobile device at the entrance of the theater hall at which they will be always checked. After the start of the theatre show, it is not allowed to enter the hall.

Check your order via your account
Below on this website, you can log in and check you reserved and/or already paid tickets. When logged in, it is also possible to reprint your tickets, but please mind that the original tickets will be invalid when reprinting.

All theater and movie tickets can be purchased at the Griffioen checkout. It is possible to pay with cash, debit card, Visa-, Master- and Maestro card, The National Movie Voucher (‘bioscoopbon’) and the gift card for theater performances (‘podiumcadeaukaart’). Purchased tickets are never refunded, but it is possible to change tickets for another theater show/movie in the same season (see also at ‘change your tickets’ on this page). The opening times of the checkout are Monday t/m Friday 17.00 – 22.30 hours.

 

Reservations by Telephone

Tickets can be reserved by telephone (020-5985100) when the checkout is open (see above). Tickets have to be collected within two weeks after the reservation. Half an hour before the start of the show/movie, all reservations become invalid. Reservations costs are € 3,- per reservation (not per ticket).

Tickets for theatre performances and movies can be purchased in three different price types:

  • The lowest price is for students (universities of research, applied university and community). Always bring a valid college card with proof of registration for the current academic year.
  • The midprice is for VU-employees (please note: not for VUmc-employees). You need to show valid proof of registration as a VU-employee. This price also applies when owning a valid Cultural Passport for Adolescents (‘Cultureel Jongeren Paspoort’) or a discount pass received from the municipalities of Amsterdam or Amstelveen (‘Amstelveen- of Stadspas’).
  • The highest price is for everyone else.

Proofs of discount will always be checked at the entrance of the hall, so please always bring it.

The right to discount is personal. This means that everyone who holds a ticket with a discount, is obliged to show a valid proof of discount. In other words: it is not possible to buy discount tickets for non-students or non-employees. The only exception is the performances for VU-employees. For these performances, employees are allowed to buy 4 tickets which are also valid for non-VU-employees.

when are you considered a student?

In the Griffioen you are considered a student when you are registered as a fulltime student at a community college, an applied university or a research university in The Netherlands (students at foreign universities or colleges do not receive the discount). You are also considered a student if you are a parttime or pre-master student at VU University. We always ask you to bring valid proof of registration for the current academic year.

cinevilletickets

Visitors with a Cineville membership can make a reservation by telephone from 90 minutes on before the display of the movie. No costs are charged for this reservation.

waiting list

When a theatre show is sold out, it is possible to be placed on a waiting list via this site. When we have vacancies, you will be called of be sent an e-mail. Reserved tickets that are not picked up, will be open for sale again from 30 minutes for the start of the show; however, you need to collect a waiting number at the checkout for these tickets (this is possible from 18.00 hrs). A maximum of two tickets is sold for each number. 

ticket change

Purchased tickets are not refunded, but it is possible to change for tickets for a show in the current theater season. Ticket change is possible till a week before the performance, and only at the checkout. Per ticket change, € 2,50 will be charged, as well as the difference in price when purchasing tickets that are more expensive than the original ones. In case of purchasing cheaper tickets, the difference will not be refunded.
Please mind: after the start of the show, you are not allowed to enter the hall. In this case, refund is not possible.

free seating

All theater shows and movies have free seating. Therefore it is always possible to sit next to each other.

visitors with a disability

The theatre hall of the Griffioen has a flat floor, which makes it perfectly accessible for visitors with a disability and / or in a wheelchair. Please inform the checkout one day in advance when visiting the Griffioen or send us a message at balie.griffioen@vu.nl. ur staff will reserve a seat for you in the hall.


Course registrations

general terms

When subscribing for a course, you agree with the general terms and you are obliged to pay the full contribution.

Registrations are subscribed in order of entry till the maximum number of participants is reached.

Contributions are not refunded unless a course is canceled by the Griffioen. In case of a protracted injury or illness, the contribution may be refunded. In such cases, a statement of a physician is required.

Cultural Centre Griffioen reserves the right to cancel a course or to postpone the start date in case of insufficient subscriptions. The participant will be informed by e-mail. The paid contribution will be refunded within two weeks.

When subscribing for a course with a discount, you are requested to show proof of registration, a graduation statement, or some proof of employment registration at the VU.

Comments, questions and complaints can be sent to the course administration by emailing cursus.griffioen@vu.nl. The Griffioen is not responsible for any direct correspondence between the course participants and the teachers.

No rights can be derived from any misprints or other errors in the announced course programme and prices. Due to the fact that the course programme is compiled long before the actual start of the courses, it is also possible that information like the day of the course, the scheduled lessons and the teacher can be different from the programme that was announced in the first place.

In case of canceled lessons, the lesson will be caught up at the end of the course program, in some case on another day and/or time slot than planned. Course participants need to take into account that a course can last some weeks longer than the originally planned end.

If fewer participants are subscribed than the required number, the course maybe pursued with fewer class hours for the same contribution. It is also possible that a course will be combined with another course. Due to these circumstances, class hours can change.

If you cannot attend a lesson, you are requested to sign out via balie.griffioen@vu.nl. Please specify in your e-mail the course you are enrolled in.

If taking part in a course requires some entry criteria (which are mentioned on the website) and the teacher notes that the participant does not meet these criteria, Cultural Centre Griffioen has the right to transfer this participant to another course. Differences in contribution (if any) will be settled.

Taking part in courses is at one’s own risk.

Resubscribing to another course is only possible by e-mail (cursus.griffioen@vu.nl) before two weeks for the start of the course. After this time, cancellation or transfer is not possible anymore.

It is possible that pictures will be taken during the courses or activities by a photographer of the Griffioen. These pictures will be used for advertising purposes, like a flyer, poster, the website etc. If you do not object to this before the start of the course by e-mail (cursus.griffioen@vu.nl, please specify the course you are enrolled for), the Griffioen assumes that you agree with this. Of course, you can notify the photographer if you don’t want to be photographed.

When transferring to another course, we don’t refund the price difference if this difference is smaller than € 10,-.

Select the course of your choice and the appropriate price type (see below). If you had not signed up earlier, you are requested to make an account during the enrollment process. Please mind: an enrollment for a course is personal, so it is not possible to enroll more than once on the same account.
For every transaction, € 2,- is charged. After payment with iDeal, Visa, Mastercard or Maestrocard, you will be sent a confirmation of enrollment by e-mail and your registration will be valid.

We prefer payments by debit card. Costs for materials are included in the course price, unless stated  differently.

WAITING LIST

The Griffioen maintains a waiting list for sold-out courses. You can send an email to balie.griffioen@vu.nl for which course you would like to be on the waiting list. If places become available, people from that list will be emailed.

  • The highest price is for all other participants.

Your right for a discount will be checked during your course lessons in the Griffioen. Therefore, always bring one of the following proofs of discount:

For students: a valid college card including proof of registration for the current academic year.

For VU-employees: any valid proof that tells you are working for VU University.

For VU-alumni: (a copy of) your graduation certificate.
