About the show
You walk through Lisbon from sunset until the early morning hours: from the banks of the Tagus through picturesque alleys to notorious working-class neighborhoods, from day-trippers in restaurants to shadowy figures on dark street corners – everyone with his own story, his own Fado … You know the story from the legendary fadista Maria Severa? Or the singing furniture maker Alfredo Duarte? David Vos will be your guide on this nightly journey of discovery. This excellent storyteller, himself a performer of chansons and life songs, was immediately fascinated by the purity of Fado and the bohemian atmosphere of Lisbon.
ABOUT maria de fatima
Maria de Fátima, born in the working-class district of Boavista, won Lisbon’s most important singing competition, A Grande Noite do Fado, when she was only 12 years old. Forty years later, she still sings the Fado and she has already been included in the “Order of Infante D. Henrique” by the Portuguese president for her merit in this music.
