About the show
Rio de Janeiro, 1950. The inseparable sisters Eurídice and Guida live at home with their conservative parents. Growing up with the strict rules of their father, they both have big dreams: the talented Eurídice fantasizes about a career as a pianist, the adventurous Guida hopes to find true love. After a dramatic event, the sisters are separated and they lose sight of each other. As the years pass, they build a life of their own. But they never give up hope to find each other again.
Director Aïnouz turned Martha Batalha’s novel of the same name into a visually overwhelming film, which was awarded the Un Certain Regard prize in Cannes this year. The Invisible Life or Eurídice Gusmão was also selected as the Brazilian Oscar submission.
