In this playful course, you’ll explore how to use your body as a theatrical instrument. You’ll work on expression, musicality, and creating scenes without words. Instructor Ronald draws inspiration from slapstick (like Laurel & Hardy and Mr. Bean), as well as the expressive power of Commedia dell’arte (big gestures), mime, and modern dance theatre.
No worries, you don’t need any dance experience. If you can move, you can join (even standing still counts as movement!).
The starting point of this course is body awareness. That makes it not just a creative training, but also a fun physical workout that helps you unwind and feel more at home in your body. Think of it as yoga or sports, but with a theatrical twist. No experience needed, just wear comfortable clothing and bring your willingness to play!
Ronald Wolthuis graduated in Theatre Directing from HKU (Utrecht University of the Arts). He directs theatre, opera, and physical theatre. As a director, he has created productions with young people, students, amateurs, and professionals alike.
He is also one half of the theatre collective Dender (with Jasper van der Heijden), performing regularly at festivals across the Netherlands. In his classes, playfulness and talent development take center stage.
