In the NU building on the Vrije Universiteit campus, you'll find Griffioen: a theater right in the heart of campus! Griffioen has both a large and a small theater where you can enjoy performances by big names and rising talent all year round. You'll see cabaret, dance, podcasts, theater lectures, music, drama, and much more!

Sold out? Not for students! For our most popular shows, we always reserve extra seats exclusively for students. That way, you have a better chance of getting tickets, even for popular shows.

Courses and workshops

VU Griffioen offers over 70 creative courses at various levels. Griffioen offers special student rates so you can explore new skills and/or develop your talent at a great price! From dance to painting, from photography to fashion design, and much more. Generally, courses start in September and February.

As a student, you always get over 50% discount on any course.
A fixed low rate of €25 for all Body & Mind courses (yoga, massage, mindfulness, pilates, and more).
In September and February, you can join the first class of many course for free during the Off Course Try-Outs, the perfect way to see if the course suits you. No strings attached!

Conditions:

Griffioen considers you a student in case you are an enrolled full-time student at an MBO, HBO or WO institution in the Netherlands, or a part-time or premaster student at the VU. We always ask you to bring proof of registration for the current academic year. This means you're only able to buy a ticket or course with student discount if you are buying for yourself. It is not possible to transfer the student discount to someone else.
