VU Griffioen is part of the Free University (Vrije Universiteit, VU) in Amsterdam. As such, our prices for room rental are very attractive compared to many other centres. This way, your congress, meeting or show can remain affordable.

Suitable for all kinds of events
VU Griffioen is suitable for all kinds of events due to the unique combination of two professionally equipped theatre auditoriums with 300 seats (Great Auditorium) and 140 seats (Small Auditorium) respectively, and 10 course rooms. This means that there is plenty of capacity to receive a large number of guests, but you can also break out into smaller groups.
Please note: Due to restrictions on our licence, we do not hire out rooms for parties of a personal nature.

Easy to reach
VU Griffioen is a 10-minute walk from the train, metro and bus station of Amsterdam Zuid. From Schiphol Airport you can reach VU Griffioen within half an hour.
Our location is easy to reach by car as well. Set your navigation address to: Van der Boechorststraat 5a, 1081 BT Amsterdam. On the A10 take exit s108 (VUmc) and follow the signs P3 VU Campus.

Parking
Parking garage P3 is a 3-layer garage under the NU building with space for 600 cars and 24 charging spots for electric cars. The pedestrian exits lead to De Boelelaan and VU Campusplein.

Please note: Trucks and delivery vans from the production cannot park in the P3 garage underneath the NU building, but have to park in the parking area on the south side of the NU building. Before parking, please call our technicians (06 - 44248 255). Cars of production and artists park in P3 garage. Their parking ticket can be exchanged for an exit ticket at Techniek.

Wheelchair accessible
VU Griffioen has excellent facilities for people in wheelchairs. The theatre halls have a flat stage, making them accessible to everyone. The classrooms are all accessible with a lift and there is a toilet for the disabled.

Excellent technical facilities
The theatres and other halls of the Griffioen are equipped with audio-visual equipment such as sound systems, beamers and laptops. Wi-Fi is also available throughout the building. In addition, our technicians are available for audiovisual support during your event.

Pleasant cooperation is very important to us. Therefore you can always contact us: before, during and after your event. We are also happy to give you advice.

Extra staff costs at the weekend
Because the Griffioen is usually closed on weekends, you must take into account additional staff costs for opening the building on Saturdays and Sundays.

Catering
Catering is an important part of your event. Lunches, dinners and intermission catering can be provided by our theatre café Bar Boele.

Student discount
Study and student associations recognised by the VU receive a 50% discount.
