Welcome to the basic tap dance course at our cultural center! Tap dancing is an energetic and rhythmic dance form where your feet act as instruments. In this course, you will learn the fundamental principles of tap dancing, including essential techniques such as the shuffle, flap, and stomp.
Our instructor will guide you step by step, ensuring you can learn and grow in a friendly and supportive environment. You will learn rhythmic combinations and simple choreographies that will improve both your coordination and musicality.
This course is perfect for absolute beginners and those with some experience who want to refresh their skills. In addition to learning dance steps, we also focus on timing and rhythm, which are essential for every tap dancer.
Please note: you must bring your own tap shoes.
The course dates are: March 5, 12 and 19; April 2, 9 and 16; May 7, 21 and 28; and June 4.
Gwyneth is a passionate dancer with both Dutch and Welsh roots. From a young age, she has dedicated herself to classical ballet and tap dance, but her true passion lies in tap. What attracts Gwyneth most to tap dance is its versatility: from dancing to the music of classic musicals to creating fast, rhythmic patterns.
In the Netherlands, tap dance is not very well known, and Gwyneth has the ambition to bring this unique and vibrant dance form to a wider audience. With her enthusiasm and dedication, she hopes to inspire others and share the beauty and joy of tap dance with them.
The courses take place on the sixth floor of the OZW building at the VU Campus (de Boelelaan 1109).
