The conductor of the VU Chamber Choir, Krista Audere, has won the prestigious Eric Ericson Award in Stockholm. This prize from the conductor competition of the same name is awarded once every three years. The goal of the competition is to give young, talented conductors access to an international career. Krista was selected from more than 90 applications.
The jury said about her performance: 'With a great sense of imagination and courage our winner clearly engaged and inspired the singers. Already at an international level and with a bright future as a highly professional choir conductor, it is with great joy we present the 1st prize winner of the Eric Ericson Award 2021: Krista Audere'. Winning the prize means that Krista will soon be able to work with ten European radio choirs, including the BBC Singers and the Swedish Radio Choir.
Krista performs with the VU Chamber Choir every Tuesday evening in one of the new theatre halls of the Griffioen at De Boelelaan 1111 in Amsterdam. She started conducting at the age of 15 in Latvia, obtained her diploma as a choral conductor at the Riga Dom Choir School, and graduated cum laude for a master's degree in choral conducting in Amsterdam in 2016. In a few months her concerts with the VU Chamber Choir can be attended: on 5 and 6 February 2022 in the Pieterskerk in Utrecht and the Waalse Kerk in Amsterdam. The VU Chamber Choir will sing modern choir music. Tickets can already be ordered via this link.
VU Griffioen and the VU Chamber Choir congratulate Krista on this wonderful achievement!
