Griffioen, the theatre at VU Amsterdam, has its own programming which is separate from the university's educational and scientific activities. Recently, there have been critical questions raised about one of Griffioen's performances, specifically Richard de Leth’s theatre show 'OERsterk'.
An investigation has been conducted to determine whether the content of the performance warranted its withdrawal. Both the agency representing De Leth and De Leth himself have assured that the performance contains no scientific inaccuracies or misleading messages. This has also been verified with other theatres that programmed the performance last season. The focus of the performance is on promoting a healthy lifestyle and preventing health issues, including sleep, nutrition, exercise, and mental resilience.
Griffioen has invited the two journalists who initially raised the critical questions to attend the performance. Neither of them had seen the performance before. Afterward, they will have the opportunity to engage in an open dialogue with one another about the content and impact of the performance.
