VU Griffioen Dance Crews

Did you know that Griffioen has not one, but two dedicated dance crews?
Our most committed dancers from the hip hop, urban and high heels classes get the chance to take their skills to the next level by joining one of the VU Griffioen Dance Crews. They create spectacular choreographies, train intensively every week and regularly perform on stage. From festival appearances (such as the DèjaVU Festival and Amsterdam 750 Years on the Ring) to national and international competitions.

The crews work together on performances, competitions and creative dance videos, building strength, technique and teamwork along the way.

VU Griffioen Dance Crew directed by Ana Hazler

Ana Hazler, an experienced and energetic dancer and teacher of High Heels, Urban Dance, and Jazz Dance, leads the Dance Crew! She is a Croatian dancer with a bachelor’s degree in Dance Performing Arts. For the past 15 years, she has worked across Europe as a dance teacher, choreographer, and international competition judge.

Meet Ana in this video

Ana's dance crew was established 2 years ago and since then, the crew has performed at several events and participated in various national competitions. They compete in Hip Hop, Urban and Showdance styles. The focus of the crew is on Hip Hop and High Heels. It has 13 dedicated members with an international background and various experience with dance styles.

In 2024 and 2025, the crew achieved first place at UDO, the largest Hip Hop competition in the Netherlands, with their unique urban choreography “What Goes Around.” Last year, they also claimed 1st place at a DDO competition, earning the title of national champions! With their high heels choreography, the crew secured 2nd place last year and came back even stronger this year, taking 1st place at the DDO National Competition, successfully defending their national champion title.

The Ultra Violet Dance Crew is led by Rebecca Smaak, known for her high-energy Urban Intro, Urban Fusion, and Hip Hop classes at Griffioen.
